design with charissa: la glam project
Being an LA resident for the better part of 20 years, I'm well versed in all the "personalities" of LA. You have Hollywood, the Westside, the Hipster Vibe, the Valley, and now, with a revamped Downtown, a pull to a metropolitan oasis. My goal for this LA home was to combine all the elements - so this house could really be anywhere (if that makes sense).
I didn't want to isolate what I like to call the “identity" of this home.
Who is this "home”? It's a question I ask, even if it's not grammatically correct!
Like humans, houses have an identity, and it's the job of the designer to assign that. With this home, in particular, the outside was such a selling point, it was essential to keep the attention on the exterior but also make you feel like it was all one cohesive space. So I started with the outside; a lot of green, the blue from the pool, and the white exterior with black windows. So there you go - there is the jump-off for the color palette inside. Sure, you pick your moments - a pink headboard or couch, but for the most part, the exterior colors and textures are brought inside to give us that perfect LA glam but coastal comfort.
